Hey there, I’m Em. I’m studying a double degree, Business (Public Relations) and Fine Arts (Creative and Professional Writing). I joined the Guild in a volunteer capacity in 2019 as the Creative Industries Councillor, and currently work as one of the Editors on the Glass Magazine team. I represent Glass to provide students with information that they deserve to know about the university they attend, as well as celebrating their work through the submissions aspect of our magazine.
My plans and hopes for Glass is for the magazine to reach more people than it ever has before, from all faculties and degree-progressions. I want Glass to be a trusted source for finding out developments from the Guild and investigating the choices of the University to ensure they are always acting in the best interests of students. We had some success this past year with pieces that promoted accountability, such as the monthly Executive Catch-Up segment, and covering federal Government changes to education fees in 2020, in terms that students can comprehend - no jargon here. Glass is here to be transparent (haha) and I fully intend on upholding the values of the publication in my 2021 term.
