The QUT Guild is proud to announce that its new Constitution has now been formally approved, marking an important milestone in strengthening student governance and positioning the organisation for the future.
The constitutional reform process placed student voice at its centre. Consultation opportunities were provided throughout development to gather feedback and ensure the proposed changes reflected the priorities of the student community. Input from elected representatives and stakeholders helped shape a Constitution that supports a stronger, more effective Guild for future generations.
Recognising the significance of constitutional reform, the Guild engaged independent governance experts, CPR Group, to support the review process. Their expertise assisted in ensuring the Constitution aligned with governance best practices, remained internally consistent, and created a clear and practical framework for future operations.
Specialist constitutional and legal advice was also obtained throughout the project to ensure compliance with relevant legislative and regulatory requirements and to provide confidence that the final document supports sound governance principles.
The Constitution progressed through multiple stages of review and approval. Following consultation and refinement, the proposed Constitution was endorsed by the Student Representative Council and approved by the Guild Board before receiving final approval from QUT Council.
The result is a Constitution built for the future, one that creates greater accessibility, transparency and relevance for students and decision-makers alike. The updated structure and language improve clarity and usability, making it easier for students to understand how the Guild operates and how they can engage with student representation.
This new Constitution provides a strong foundation for the years ahead, ensuring the Guild remains responsive, accountable, and equipped to represent and support students in an evolving university environment.
Constitution was approved by the QUT Council on Thursday, 25th of June.
