More InformationHi, I am looking for a caring, patient, enthusiastic, and physically active person with a sense of humour to support, teach, and mentor my 10 year old son who has Down syndrome. The role involves picking him up from school every Wednesday at 3:00pm and engaging in various activities until 6:00PM. Activities will be related to his goals for the year and include riding bikes to the park; supervising playdate; cooking a meal at home; playing music together; playing basketball or soccer; doing homework; as well as driving him to his speech therapy appointment every second Wednesday and sitting in on the session. My son attends a local mainstream school in inner North Brisbane, he is bright, has a wide range of interests, and generally is a lot of fun to be with. I am looking for someone studying for a career in Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Music Therapy, Psychology or Social Work who is interested in gaining valuable skills relevant to their field of study and in developing a meaningful relationship with us. Music skills would be advantageous. There is likely to be opportunities for extra casual hours.
The role will require an ABN or ability to apply for one (it is free); own reliable car and open driving license; and commitment to stick around until the end of the school year minimum.
Please give me a call if this role interests. Thank you. Julie
